Successful Experiment!

Monday, January 18, 2010

Ran into a bind today when I was going to make sloppy joes for dinner...No hamburger buns :( Found an awesome website that had a recipe for hamburger buns and they were sooooo easy to make. I think it may have taken me a total of 15 minutes to make the dough and then roll them and get them ready for baking, aside from the time to let the dough rise! If you're interested in trying them out go to King Arthur Flour. I must say I was quite impressed with how easy and how well they came out...and yes, yummy! They were light and fluffy, way better than store bought...I think I will stick to making these instead of buying from the store from now on.

Just found out that the week of 1/31-2/6 Walgreens will have the Bayer meters $14.99 with a $10.00 RR on sale! Fry's 1/6-1/12

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

I don't know about you guys, but we go through hand soap in our house like crazy!

The paper from Sunday (1/3/10) had a coupon from the Smartsource insert for .35/1 Softsoap liquid hand soap and Fry's still has their deal running that all coupons are worth $1.00. The Softsoap liquid hand soap is on sale this week for .99........this makes them FREE with the coupon!
look at the bottom right had corner and you will see the picture of Softsoap to click on for your coupon.

.99/1 - $1.00 (.35 coupon valued at $1.00) = FREE

Go get 'em before the sale is over next Tuesday (1/12/10)!

Free dishwasher detergent trip

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Went to Walgreens today and got the Electrasol dishwasher tablets (25 pack)....had 5 coupons and used them all.

5 boxes (125 tablets) = $6.35 OOP
Received $5.00 RR (register rewards) to be used on next purchase

I will probably use the $5.00 RR for toilet paper or paper towels when they go on sale. :)

Total OOP: $6.35 and made $5.00 RR = $1.35 for 5 boxes (125 tablets)

Remaining budget for 2010: $744.87
Savings for 2010 to date: $57.33

Free dishwasher detergent at Walgreens!

Sunday, January 3, 2010

In the newspaper today there was a coupon for $2.50/1 Electrasol dishwasher detergent. Walgreens has the box of 20 tablets on sale for $3.49 and receive a $1 RR (register reward-see previous posts for explanation on what a RR is). So once you pay .99 after using the coupon, you get $1 to spend on your next transaction, making your purchase of tablets free!

My scenario...I bought 5 papers today, so I have 5 of those coupons. I will go into Walgreens (of course 5 times) and purchase one box at a time for .99 ea. after using the coupon. Don't use your $1 RR for another purchase of the tablets though because you won't get another RR printed. I will get 5 boxes of dishwasher tablets for $4.95 +tax and will have $5.00 in RR....I will hold onto the $5.00 in RR for a while until the 12 pack of paper towels go on sale for $5.00 or toilet paper goes on sale...and I will get those for free with my RR.

I hope this isn't too confusing for any beginners reading this....just remember, if you get a RR for an item, don't use it to purchase the same item again because the register won't print another RR.

$3.49/1 - $2.50 coupon = $.99/1 + $1.00 RR = profit of .01

Feel free to email me at couponclipper77@yahoo.com or post a comment on here if you have questions or need any help....I would love to help you!

Welcome to the year 2010....BUDGET CHALLENGE!

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Hi everyone! I have made a New Year's challenge to stick to a grocery budget for the year of $800.00, this will include groceries, animal foods, cleaning products, beauty/bath products and health products...this is for a family of 2 with 3 large dogs, 2 cats and 4 chickens..and occasionally a third person!!!!

I challenge you to pick a budget amount and try to stick to it and follow along with me!

With a budget of $800.00 per year, this averages out to approximately $1.10 per person/per day, but don't forget all the animals...they are included in the budget, but didn't get figured into the per person/per day amount. The budget amount averages out to $66.67 per month for all grocery, animal products, cleaning products and toiletries. However, there may be one month that I spend $100 or $200 and other months that I spend $20...It will all depend on how the sales go...what a challenge, how fun and interesting! Wish me luck....and I hope others take part in the challenge no matter what your budget amount may be!!
